Serbian ace had a perfect start of the first race leaving his competition well behind after the first lap of the race. In the second lap there was already a safety car because of a polish driver Szymon Jablonski. At the restart, there was 14 more minutes to go and Borkovic had an even better start. Borkovic crossed the finishline with the 7.9 seconds gap from the 2nd placed Vesnic.
"In these extraordinary times for all of us considering the effects of this pandemic, I am very happy what I showed after a long break and without testing. During the quarantine I worked on my physical and mental strength, but I had a chance to sit in the car only here at Grobnik. The key to the first race was to have a good start and save the tires for a victorious finish, which luckily I did." Borkovic said after the first race.
"The second race was pretty similar to the first one. I had a good clean start and made a large gap very quickly. I was able to increase the gap to an eventual 12 second gap. In general I had a huge desire to get back to the racetrack after a long break and an even bigger desire for the new victories. I think that contributed also to my results here this weekend. I would like to say special thanks to M1RA racing team and to my fans, Serbia and all of my sponsors that support me."
Among 18 drivers Borkovic in his Hyundai i30N TCR scored the maximum of 55 points. He is now the leader of TCR Easter Europe driver's scoreboard, leading the way by 16 points. M1RA racing team is also the leader in the team category.
The next racing weekend of TCR Eastern Europe will be held at Slovakiaring 21-23rd of August.
