BORKOVIC DOMINATED, BROKE THE RACE TRACK RECORDS AFTER THE FIRST DAY OF THE 55TH SERBIA RALLY

The best Serbian driver Dusan Borkovic dominated on the first day of competition at the 55th Serbia Rally. After six special stages, Borkovic is convincingly first in the general standings with 1 minute and 16 seconds ahead of the second-placed Stajkov from Bulgaria and 1 minute and 27 seconds ahead of another Bulgarian crew, Surilov and Zdravkov.

Together with his co-driver Igor Markovic, Borkovic was convincingly first on five of the six gears during the first day.

The Serbian crew with number 62, consisting of Borkovic and Markovic, managed to break their own track record at the Stanisinci and Silver special stages. The previous records were set in previous rallies, which only confirms the excellent form of the two-time champions of the Serbia Rally.

Today they proved their skills in six special tests: Stanisinci 1, Silver 1, Zupa 1, Stanišinci 2, Silver 2, Zupa 2. The coordinated winning tandem are undoubtedly the biggest favorites of this most important regional car championship.

Despite a minor accident on the last special stage, the driver of the NIS Petrol Racing Team said after the first day of the competition that he was satisfied with the result and that he hopes for a third victory at the Serbia Rally.

The unstoppable duo Borkovic-Markovic expects six more special stages tomorrow on the tracks Klobuk, Župa Tamjanika, Stanišinci, Klobuk 2, Župa Tamjanika 2, Stanišinci 2.
