From a great start to tough luck: TCR series returning star Borkovic faces setback in a dramatic car incident in R2

The best Serbian race car driver, Dusan Borkovic, won a total of 30 points for the weekend, and a fourth position in the first race during the first weekend of this season in Portugal at the Algarve International Circuit, which the Serbian ace is driving by the TCR Europe calendar and also in the fight for the best placement in the TCR World Rankings. The results of the TCR World Ranking will follow on Wednesday, when all the championships around the world are combined.

During the second race, Dusan successfully avoided a collision between the two drivers Girolami and Pauwels. However, when the young competitor Pauwels improperly joined the track, there was an incident in which Borkovic received a direct hit from him and almost flipped to the roof. The damage from the hit made it impossible for Borkovic to continue the race, leaving him with minor injuries and no points in the second race. Dusan currently shares ninth place in the overall standings of the TCR Europe Championship.

"I expected it to be difficult considering I didn't know the car at all, the tires are brand new and it is the track that I haven't driven on before. Despite this, I managed to get to know the car and the track quickly and finished fourth in the TCR Europe in the first race. In the second race, I had a great start, but already in the fourth corner of the first lap I received a direct hit from a younger colleague who improperly returned to the track after his incident with Girolami. Luckily, I didn't roll onto the roof and my Target Competition and team Borkovic team are looking at the next race at Pau, France", said Dusan Borkovic.

Qualifying on Saturday was challenging, but Borkovic finished in the 14th position out of 23 competitors given that this race weekend was driven in a top competition at the highest level of the world touring racing.
Despite the big hit he received in the first race as well from Andressson, Borkovic won a fourth place in the TCR Europe.

"It's a long season and I believe that Target Competition, my Team Borković and I will keep getting better, and it's a great honor for me to represent Serbia and my partners at such a prestigious World and European competition", said the best Serbian driver.

Borkovic and his team are already preparing for the next race in France on the street circuit of Pau, France: Pau is considered to be a great challenge and one of the most dangerous circuits in the world. Live broadcast of the races will be on Serbian National channels in, TCR TV worldwide and many other regional and national channels.
