FANTASTIC START OF THE TCR INTERNATIONAL SEASON FOR BORKOVIĆ

Serbian champion scored 14 points on the races in Georgia finishing 9th and 5th.

The best Serbian race car driver Dušan Borković started new TCR International season with a great result. He scored 14 points in both races finishing 9th and 5th in his Alfa Romeo Giulietta #62.

Georgian races were historical. It is the first time that a world series is held in this country but the whole Georgian government with the prime minister alng with thousands of spectators were at the Rustavi circuit.

Borkovic started from the 13th place after the misfrotune in qualifying when steering rack and differential broke. Cold weather and rain were also a challenge but the car was better prepared today.

With the fantastic start in the first race Borkovic marvelously passed Morbideli, Homola and Valente and cotinued pushing but soon he wore the tyres and didn't want to risk further more. With the smart drive Borkovic finished 9th and scored his first 2 point this season

How important collecting points is shows the fact that Dusan missed only 2 points for the 5th position last season. Borkovic's team mate local hero Davit Kajaia won the first race.

The rain stopped by the begining of race 2 and the track dried quit a bit. Borkovic passed 6 competitors after only a few turns and was 7th before the safety car went out on track.

Dusan was 7th for only towo laps and the with the spectacular pass he leaves Morbideli behind, few moments later after Altoe spun out Dusan reached 5th position. The problems started there when Borkovic held 5 drivers behind. Nash and Colchiago passed him at one moment but ha manged to overtake them both in aturn and keep his position. Dusan finished the race in 5th place but was moved to 4th after Valente's penalty.

Serbian champion scored 12 more points in race 2 for a great start of the season in his new car. Pepe Oriola won the secodn race.

«It was a succesful first weekend. I am not satisfied with my speed but I used my skills to reach 9th position from 13th in race 1 and 5th in race 2. After the misfortune in qualifying everything ended well. Evry point counts. I have to prepare for Bahrain now because the next round is in 2 weeks already» - Borkovic said – «I want to congratulate my team mate on his first victory in TCR International and in his home race. This is a big day for Georgia and Davit made a great show for his fans. It is also a big victory for Romeo Ferraris the team that develops Alfa. I want to thank my sponsors, my team and my fans and I hope they enjoyed the races».
