BORKOVIĆ ON THE PODIUM IN THAILAND

With great racing in both races on Chang International circuit in Buriram Dušan Borković got to the podium and collected 21 new points, 6 points in race 1 and 15 points for the third place in the second race. Serbian champion is now 8th in overall standings with 117 points.

Borkovic started 7th in the first race and kept his position throughout the whole race. But the real spectacle was in the second race in which Borkovic started 4th. The race was full of excitement from the start. Gianni Morbidelli reached the 4th position from the 9th and soon after he ran out and hit the barrier. Serbian champion reported problems with the car from the very beginning of the race, blocking of right wheel, understeer, he was much slower on the straights. Later Comini and Vernay both hit Borkovic while overtaking and damaged his car. Borkovic reported having a problem turning right and his engineer advised him to stay away from the duels. But in the 11th lap Borkovic with an amazing move overtook Kusiri, Comini and Vernay at once and reached 3rd position where he stayed till the end although he continued reporting problems and vibrations in the car.

“This was the most challenging weekend this season. I’ve never experienced weather conditions like this, we could hardly breathe. Despite of the problems with the car I finished both races, collected new points and even won a podium. I can’t be dissatisfied, my goal was to collect new points considering my bad luck during the first part of the season. Hopefully I will continue Asian round in this pace” – Borkovic said.

Although weekend in Thailand was a success, this problem with the car is occurring for the second time and it has to be fixed. The car is slower on straights and losses power at times. Seat sport didn’t find any problems with the engine and turbo. B3 racing will do everything they can to find out what the problem is and to fix for Singapore and for the rest of the season.

Buriram rounds were marked by high temperatures and humidity. It was over 70c in the cars and it was really hard for the mechanics to work.

“Invest in Serbia” banner was present on the track in Thailand as it was in Germany and Russia, as part of Dusan's effort to promote his home country.
